The Witch Head Nebula is a faint reflection nebula in the constellation Orion. It is believed to be an ancient supernova remnant. It lies at a distance of 1,000 light years from Earth.

The Old Supernovae is a medium-sized, face-on spiral galaxy about 22 million light years away from Earth. During the past century, at least eight supernovae have been observed exploding in the arms of this galaxy. Observations by NASA’s Chandra X-ray Observatory (shown in purple) have revealed the locations of three of the oldest supernovae, hence the name.
